Facade scaffolds

NF EN 12810 (parts 1 and 2)

This European Standard applies to system scaffolds made from prefabricated components. It specifies their performance requirements as well as general requirements relating to their structural design and inspection. It states, for example, that facade scaffolds should be anchored to a facade using ties. This Standard only applies to system scaffolds whose standards are made from steel or aluminium alloy and whose other components are made from either these materials or timber.

It also outlines different ways of configuring system scaffolds based on their structural design. Certain configurations however fall outside this Standard's scope. In addition, it does not mention any requirements regarding protective awnings, nor does it provide information about erection, dismantling, use or maintenance.

NF EN 12811 (parts 1, 2 and 3)

This Standard specifies the requirements relating to the performance and overall design of facade scaffolds.  NF EN 12811 mainly concerns scaffolds which can be tied to a facade for stability. However, the requirements specified within can be applied to all scaffolds in general.

This Standard does not apply to suspended platforms, be they fixed or mobile; mobile platforms (this includes mobile access towers); mechanically operated platforms or scaffolds used as protection for roof work.

Decree 65 48

This Decree is similar to NF EN 12811, except that it gives more consideration to user safety. It outlines, for example, current safety regulations. Compliance with this Decree is mandatory; workers must be familiar with it and implement it to the letter. Users, manufacturers and distributors who do not comply with decrees in force may face severe financial and criminal sanctions.

Decree 65 48 is mandatory for all platforms and scaffolds used in a professional environment.
